Coding QA Copilot

Reads every coded chart after your coder does and flags the ones worth a second look, with the chart text behind each flag.

The QA queue

Every coded chart reviewed after the coder, the riskiest first

Coding QA Copilot on a wide screen: a dark sidebar with QA queue, Chart review, Coverage, Client report and Audit trail; the top bar names the fictional coding firm with a Synthetic data badge and the signed-in QA auditor, Lakshmi Prasanna. The QA queue for Monday 12 October 2026 says the copilot has reviewed 43 of 43 charts received today, with tabs for All lanes, Senior review, QA review, Pass and Waiting, filters for coder, specialty, client and day, and a worklist of charts: chart ID and patient, client and specialty, coder, date of service, the coder's codes, the copilot's flags as chips, a risk bar and the lane, Senior review charts first. The real screen, on synthetic data

1 of 5: The QA queue

The problem

If QA reviews a sample, the rest of the day's charts go to the client unreviewed. Your client's accuracy target applies to all of them, and so does the business associate agreement.

What it does

Chart CH-DEMO-0147, page 1Progress noteRiverbend Demo Bone & JointOsteoarthritis of the kneeDiagnosisRight knee, worse on stairsSideSteroid injection, right kneeProcedureModerate decision makingVisit level

It reads each chart and pulls out the facts that drive coding — diagnoses, procedures, laterality, the elements behind the visit level.

It compares those facts with the codes your coder assigned.

It flags likely errors with a reason and the exact chart text, and sorts the queue so auditors see the riskiest charts first.

It records every auditor decision, agree or override, and uses those decisions to test the next version.

Try to break it

On the call we'll trigger these, live:

  • A scanned page arrives sideways and faint. The chart goes to an auditor; nothing that couldn't be read is passed.
  • The model server stops. Charts wait in the queue and none are marked reviewed.
  • A coder disagrees with a flag. The override is recorded with their reason.

Where it runs

A GPU workstation or a partner-supplied server inside your network. Patient data doesn't leave it.

Who else does something like this

Medicodio sells AI coding to RCM companies, including a co-pilot mode that assists human coders.

Stafflo's copilot is a reviewer for your coders, not a coding service, and it runs inside your environment so your clients' data stays with you.

The rules it respects

Built for HIPAA through your business associate agreements. The demo uses synthetic charts only, and synthetic procedure codes because the AMA licenses CPT.

What our tests measured

How we test

These figures come from test runs on Google's Gemini (gemini-3.5-flash-lite), a hosted model, on synthetic data. We'll add runs on a local model.
